Sensory Play Academy (created by Sensory Play Co.) believes in creating and supporting authentic learning experiences. We offer an inspiring and creative program that supports learning and engagement for early learners. By following the Reggio Emilia approach, children are able to lead their learning while developing their skills over time. We believe in supporting the whole child through exploration.

OUR PROGRAM
The Sensory Play Academy is a Reggio-inspired and STEM/STEAM-based, blended program for children aged 1 to 6. We believe that all children are scientists, researchers, explorers and artists; in order to support learning, we need to create authentic learning experiences for children based on their interests and curiosities.

Every month, our students work with a different project. For example, if the project is Plants, then the students explore plants with all of their senses. They will discuss the characteristics of plants, count and draw plants. All the activities are related to the project in some way. The project is also based on the students interests. As the children move through the project, the teacher helps them to explore ideas that come to mind and develop in live sessions.

Addtionally, the students do STEAM and messy play activities during the recorded sessions. These are also related to the projects. (Please see attached project calendar.)

Our program integrates English literacy, Math, Social Studies and Science into our monthly projects. While we integrate these academic subjects into the project, parents usually notice skill development over time. For parents that prefer to see direct improvement in specific academic subjects, we offer one-on-one private sessions for an additional cost.
ENROLLMENT STEPS
1. Meet to the Chief Learning Officer
The Chief Learning Officer will be able to understand the specific concerns and needs of the family. They also want to answer any questions the family might have about the program or the learning process.
2. Assessments through Exploration
The student is given a small exploration assignment. These assignments require very little preparation. Some examples: are looking for large or small leaves outside and present their finds, or a drawing assignment that is used for discussion. During this assessment, the teacher will be able to assess English, Math, and exploration skills.
3. Assigned to a Class

After children are assessed, they will be assigned to the appropriate level class. These are important because student collaboration is a critical part of the exploration process and learning. Our classes are usually mixed ages which also helps students to build confidence and be encouraged by one another.
